WorkReady Statewide Event A Success

Thanks to all who attended the Hard facts about Soft Skills WorkReady event on Monday 4/13. We had 56 people attending from four different sites across Maine.

The event highlighted some best practices and models happening in Maine and provided an opportunity to discuss challenges and barriers to WorkReady programming. I believe people left with new ideas and new connections.

Changes to WorkReady Assessment Requirement

WorkReady has four distinct outcome measures, one of which has been 8th grade level proficiency in reading and math.

Recently the WorkReady Steering Committee voted to change this requirement and focus on assessment Skill Level Descriptors rather than grade levels. The Skill Level Descriptor language is more relevant to employers as it details what an individual is able to do. This change makes the WorkReady credential even more relevant as an indicator of workplace success. .
